The month of October brought us Thanksgiving, Halloween, and Pop!Tech . Late every October 500+ thinkers from the science, technology, business, design, education, government, arts and culture fields come together for a three day conference in Camden, Maine. Pop!Tech isn't your everyday stuffy business meeting, guests are treated to a relaxed and informal atmosphere where there is no hierarchy of position; Activists beside Capitalists, educators beside students. Over the three days Pop!Tech examines the major trends shaping the future, analyzes the social impacts of new technology, and looks for new approaches to addressing the worlds most significant challenges.
Andrew Zolli , executive director of Pop!Tech believes
"The world is filled with passionate and creative innovators thinking up new approaches to vexing social ills, but there are relatively few places where these individuals can come together and pool their efforts. Pop!Tech is becoming a destination for these world-changers, with a community, events and digital platforms that help close the gap between great ideas and positive change."
This year Pop!Tech welcomed some amazing musical performers. Guests enjoyed Toronto based MC Abdominal bringing some Hip Hop beats to small town Camden. Cellist Rufus Cappadocia and Friends created tunes, getting influences from Middle Eastern vibes to West African beats. Multi-genre singer Amos Lee pleased the crowd with his guitar. Imogen Heap wowed the audience as she put on a one woman sound spectacle.
Static Photography's Kris Krug was on location capturing all of the events and people throughout the conference. Kris felt right at home in Camden considering this was his 2nd year photographing at Pop!Tech. If you are preparing for a large event or conference and want it to be documented, consider talking to Static about covering your event Go ahead, give us a call, lets work something out.
