Twice a year Jamal and his production team produce Vancouver Fashion Week . A week filled with fashion shows, after parties, and photography. Director of Photography for the weeks is Kris Krug of Static . He is there front and center for all the shows taking shots and making sure that the other photographers are organized and in place.
This year the fashion shows were held in an old warehouse right across from its previous home of Chapel Arts. With the larger space the set crew went all out on a massive wood runway that forked giving the models an entrance and exit. Guests got cozy on thrifty cement and wood benches that added to the "industrial" atmosphere.
The Spring 09 collections brought us street style by Rocawear , Ecko, Cavi and Blac Label. Elroy Apparel , Karen Wu , and Pouneh Askarian showcased a variety of dresses. Parasuco pleased the audience with half naked models, and denim.
Though some of the models were new to the runway, and some of the clothing was not "high fashion" but you would not know that by the photos that were taken. Go to Kris's Flickr page and see coverage from the entire week.
