This summer the Static team met up with local Vancouver fashion
designer kdon, and shot the new pieces from the mini-collection, Dorthy
Goes to the Moulin Rouge . In addition to being an amazing fashion
designer kdon (Kim Cathers) is also a wardrobe stylist here at Static
Photography. After the shoot we sat down with Kim and got a little
insight into the inspiration behind this collection.

"...After accepting the invitation to be a part of the Summer Heat
fashion show, I realized I was all out of inventory. A request for 6
outfits, got my head spinning and I headed to DRESSEW where all the
magic is born. Wandering isle after isle letting the creative juices
drip all over me is my idea of an afternoon well spent. My wandering
lead me into the world of lame', ah..... lame'.(smiles) I kept
repeating in my head images of the moulin rouge with its glorious
dancers, large costumes, frills, bows, diamonds, music and energy. I
bought meters and meters of luxurious fabrics, and lame' to boot. Black
and white Paisley's, silver lace netted with black, silk the color of
cold steel and sand cotton, mmm the ideas were endless. One last gander
through the place found me eyeing a simple red and white gingham. And
thus, dorthy goes to the moulin rouge. From a picnic in Kansas to
debauchery in Paris, this mini collection is sexy, cute and diverse,
making every woman desire a piece, every man desiring the woman, and
all is well in the world....."

Later, she also left us with a thank you note....

"To the static team, thank you so much for shooting the Dorthy
collection, I am impressed how Kris was able to capture the mood and
mystery of the clothing, that was not as easy task. He is really
talented with that big lense of his and knows how to work all the
angles. I will be calling you guys when my next collection is ready.
Thanks again, you rule."
