As an artist it is always exciting when you are given the opportunity to showcase you are in a public format. Kris Krug from Static Photography was given this opportunity last week when he was asked to be part of a live concert photography art show titled Front Row at the Fifth Gallery in Austin, TX. The beautiful thing about Austin is that every year Kris attends the SXSW festival that happens there every spring. The tail end of the festival is filled with four days of nonstop live performances in venues all over the city of Austin. A large chunk of Kris' live concert photography is shot at the SXSW music festival every year.

Front Row was named as after the holy grail at live concerts: the front row. The front row is where you can be seen by the artist and you can see the entirety of the live show without the presence of the thousands of fans directly behind you. This art show was curated with photographers who shoot live concert photography. These images have captured the essence of seeing a musician, performer or singer/mc live and in person. The energy of the show, the stage set-up and the lighting effects all can create a perfect atmosphere where amazing photographs are born.

Photography 'n' roll a large

Photography 'n' roll a large rock that is frozen for all time. However, they rarely get the screen shots as they deserve. A corrective reinforcements will arrive on October 29, when the Brooklyn Museum opens its show "Who 'n' Roll shot," one of the largest, most serious - a photograph of rock ever presented - and also more fun.

Wow, these photos are amazing! I know how hard it is to get such good shots at a concert, because it's very hard to capture the essence of a musician and the heart of such an event. Live music and photography are just the best! :)

So rad KK, very pleased to see your skills getting noticed by peers - can't wait to see the shots you get next year. Cool to see they picked some of the same pics as our Rock n Roll photo panel at NV09 too. Flava!
