Friends Jon Hennessey and Chantal Hennessey have setup a boutique artist management firm here in Gastown called NOBASURA featuring an amazing lineup of Vancouver creative heavy hitters including Fiona Garden , Shiva Shabani , and Ian Daburn .
Their whole list of collaborators are the creme de la creme (how do you say that en espanol?) of the Vancouver fashion industry and are a pleasure to work with... we've had the opportunity to work with them on a couple shoots including this one for Opulence Magazine assisting Fiona Garden .

"NOBASURA SETS UP SHOP ON VAN’S LOWER EAST SIDE
(Vancouver, Canada – October 22nd, 2007) Fall has set-in on the West Coast with damp days becoming soggier nights, leaving us with two options: head South for escape or carry with us the momentum of a busy summer through the darker days. Choosing the latter, on September 1st, NOBASURA set up shop in Vancouver’s Gastown district – a lower east side neighborhood that’s quickly drawing NY l.e.s. comparisons and attracting style innovators like ALIFE, SUBDIVISION and Richard Kidd. If you’re in our neck of the woods, drop us a line and swing by 300 Water St. – our space has quickly become a creative hub for our clients as well as artists on and off our roster.

Since our last HOLA! We’ve been moving spaces, working places, and taking on new faces. On the new faces front, we’re proud to announce the addition of Stylist, Shiva Shabani to our roster. Shiva’s energy and charm are a perfect complement to her innate sense of style. Her book has just hit the site so give it a look.
Our artists consider sleep-deprivation the mark of their craft, here’s a quick rundown of what we’ve been up to:
JON HENNESSEY (MAKEUP & HAIR)

Considered to be one of the “industry’s best”, Jon's 15-year career is a globe-spanning trek and a who’s-who in the worlds of Fashion, Entertainment and Advertising. His work can be found on the pages of ELLE, A4, VOGUE HOMME, IN STYLE, MAXIM, NYLON and countless others, and he continues to travel between NY, MILAN and PARIS to add to his already extensive list of runway show credits. Jon’s work has appeared on red carpets from CANNES to THE ACADEMY AWARDS working with clients that include LILY ALLEN, ALICIA KEYS, INXS, KIM CATRALL, CYNTHIA NIXON, JULIA ORMOND and MARCIA GAY HARDEN to name a few.
On the print advertising front, Jon’s portfolio includes work with VIDAL SASSOON, BODOG, FEDEX, STERLING and a long list of others.

IAN DABURN (HAIR) Our incredibly talented session hairstylist continues to juggle running his successful namesake Yaletown salon while somehow managing to shoot 70-plus new editorial pages and print ads in the last few months.
FIONA GARDEN (PHOTOGRAPHY) Fiona’s latest campaigns include BODOG, EARLS, BMC and LILY & JAE. Recently appointed exclusive cover shooter for Ion (as well as it’s Photo Editor) Fiona’s current editorial credits include: REPORT ON SMALL BUSINESS MAG with Bruce Allen, and covers and stories for COLOR, OPULENCE, THE GEORGIA STRAIGHT, TETHER, INFAMOUS, and TECHNOLOGY QUARTERLY.
JEFF PETRY (PHOTOGRAPHY) Jeff is currently dividing his time between gallery showings, editorial and print advertising projects. Pick up the latest copy of NUVO and check out an incredible 10pg display of why Jeff is considered to be as much a painter as photographer.
KERRY WEINRAUCH (STYLING) Kerry continues to do some stellar work in editorial while dressing rising star Matt Dallas for the ABC series KYLE XY.
SHIVA SHABANI (STYLING) The latest addition to our roster, Shiva was recently featured in the publication “Faces in Fashion in Canada” as ‘one to watch’, is a regular consultant to media for fashion and trend updates and features and continues to leave her imprint on the fashion landscape in advertising and editorial projects for TETHER, OPULENCE, INFAMOUS and others.
We’d like to send out a big thank-you for all of the incredible support and positive feedback we’ve received during these past few months since NOBASURA’s inception. Jon and I have had the opportunity to meet a great many of you over a frenetic summer and we’re looking forward to crossing paths with many more in the coming days.
