In June 2009 Static Photography had the amazing photographic opportunity to travel to the city of Shanghai in China. Photographer Kris Krüg was shooting photographs of the Shanghai's underground arts and technology scenes for a book he was working on with Christine Lu called Chinameme Volume 1: Shanghai. This trip coincided with the Geeks on a Plane East Asia 2009 tour, which included events such as TEDx Shanghai and Barcamp Shanghai. Geeks on a Plane is heading back to East Asia for a 2010 tour this spring!
This is a particularly exciting year for China and the city of Shanghai specifically. Not only will Geeks on a Plane just be connecting with the Shanghai tech community, they will be participating in the first ever Ignite Shanghai! The biggest excitement in China is that May is the opening of the World Expo 2010 in Shanghai. The World Expo is an international fair celebrating communities from around the world. Over 190 countries will be represented in this monumental presentation that will last until October 2010.
Travelling to China is not a new thing for Static Photography. Kris has been to China over 8 times, most notably shooting the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics, while this was studio manager Danielle Sipple's first time to the east. Not only were there a load of geek events to photograph, there were also live music, nightlife, fashion and even China's first ever Gay Pride Celebration. The two week trip was the perfect teaser into the heartbeat of these emerging communities in the city of Shanghai.

These film photos are really amazing which is the reason we have been saving them for so long. Hopefully Static Photography will be back in Shanghai soon to capture more of the emerging arts and technology communities for our book with Christine Lu!

I remember during my college
I remember during my college days when we had our photography subject as part of the curriculum for Mass communication students. business plan writing We have to travel into different places in order for us to take photos of unusual events or even pictures of a place where a disease was taking place. It was an adventure and quite fearful for us because a certain disease was on the place.
the night photos are great,
the night photos are great, i use my canon 450d with a primed lense as i feel it gives a better color quality over a telephoto lense. My Motorola Atrix does ok day time photos, but night shots are pretty much a mess due to the smaller sensor size
