Autumn has snuck up right around the corner, as well the Pop!Tech conference that happens in Camden, Maine every year. Static Photography has had the opportunity to be to at the event for the last two years with Kris Krüg being the official photographer. With over speakers and musicians from around the world, this event is life-changing and packed with innovative thinkers, world-changing leaders and our change makers of today. We are really excited to be heading back to Camden this year to photograph this amazing event again!

Pop!Tech is a four day conference that provides the setting to bring together leaders in many diverse areas of study to a classic old opera house in the country and have them present some of their most passionate ideas to an even more passionate audience. This particular environment is charged with the energy of multiple disciplines and bright minds. The organization released their official conference speaker schedule a couple of weeks ago and there are so many wonderful people speaking on a variety of topics this year. It was so hard to select just a few that we were excited to shoot.

Zoe Keating
Zoe Keating is an classically trained avant garde celloist. She uses technology to live sample her music that produces a layered and multi-dimensional composition. She is a veteran to Pop!Tech having performed at the 2007 conference.  Her musical ability mixed with her innovative approach to live production will surely be inspiring to this year's conference.

Chris Jordan
Chris Jordan is an international photographer who creates large-scale pieces which depict consumerism and its subsequent aftermath. He is drawn to the slow-motion apocalyptic demise of the US economy and most recently towards natural elements such as weather patterns and the ocean.

Kacie Kinzer
Kacie Kinzer is the creator of Tweenbots which are anthropomorphic robots. Her robots are unique for they depend completely on human interaction in order to accomplish their duties. Providing a insightful commentary into human compassion towards each other, the future and technology, Tweenbots could be the evolution of cyborg-human interaction.

Amanda Rose
Amanda Rose is a creative strategist and a self-proclaimed Canadian vagabond. She started thinking globally with her creation of the Twestival , combing the forces of Twitter and a festival for fundraising. The Twestival has helped raise money for charity: water and forced people to think about giving back with new media.

Will Allen
Will Allen is a former corporate marketing executive who dove into urban agriculture development and education. He co-founded and directs Growing Power which is an organization that teaches specific farming techniques and provides educational programs to American inner-cities. Urban farming has helped alleviate many social-economical problems and Allen continues to engage many communities about growing food.

George Church
George Church is a scientist who works in computational genetics and biomedicine. A few years ago he started the Personal Genome Project with the hopes that medicine will become more personalized. His work fully supports a public awareness and knowledge around genome sequencing to aid in more fully understanding disease, health and the human body.

Marije Vogelzang
Marije Vogelzang is a food designer.  Her extensive knowledge of product design overlaps into the world of food but her creativity to simply create her own specialized discipline. Curating meals, rituals and special ways to eat, she designs food in her own sought-after events that create a memorable experience with culture and dining.

Zee Avi
Zee Avi is a singer/songwriter who got her start through charismatic web cam videos on Youtube . Signed to Brushfire Records , this songstress has the internet as her playground. Her spirited voice and heartwarming vocals are sure to be welcomed at the conference.

Neri Oxman
Neri Oxman is the founder of MATERIALECOLOGY which is an interdisciplinary art form of computational form-generation and material engineering. Claimed as a life science, MATERIALECOLOGY has helped produce some amazing pieces dually functional, scientifically engineered objects that reflect nature's forms.

Luis von Ahn
Luis von Ahn is computer scientist that has revolutionized the way that we use the internet. Having created CAPTCHAs , he has revolutionized the deflection of spammers by combing human forces with technology. His work is directed at making humans more efficient and effectively utilizing the human cycles that are wasted in everyday life.

These are just a few of the amazing list of speakers that will be at the 2009 conference. Kris will be shooting the sessions during the four day conference, capturing all the amazing moments from every speaker. Static Photography will be in Camden, Maine for a few days before and after the conference, so if you have a need for an updated headshot, this is a perfect opportunity!
