Before running headfirst into 2009 we wanted to take a minute and reflect on all the awesomeness that was 2008 for us here at Static Photography . Let's start by saying this has been one of the most exciting and diverse years ever in terms of the projects we've been able to work on.
Over the past 12 months we made time to raise money and volunteer hours for charity, organize the photography for Vancouver Fashion Week and BC Fashion Week , attended the summer Olympics in Beijing, and had photographs published in National Geographic just to name a few. Some highlights of 2008 include
Three times this year Static shot for the Arson catalog. The shoots are always a blast and we always get some great shots for them. Keep a look out for the Spring 2009 looks from Arson comin out soon and check out Spring 08 and Fall/Winter 08 to see our work.

Arson is a skate/snow/street brand that is based here in Vancouver. Over the past couple years we've been working with them on photography for their catalogs including this Fall/Winter 2008 Outwear and Streetwear lookbook. The photoshoot was a blast and the clothes looked great. We shot one day in a shut down highschool and the next day we took the schoolbus to the top of the local ski and snowboard resort.

Recently the Static Photography team had the pleasure of working with up and coming musician Victoria Herrmann. This shoot was a riot! Victoria is a fun loving spirit with a real passion for her industry. We worked with her expressive personality to create the most fitting and suitable photos. When it came to styling, we had her in multiple outfits to keep her fans interested and intrigued.

Recently we had another opportunity to assist Fiona Garden of nobasura on a fashion editorial photoshoot for Opulence Magazine. We helped with production, sets and locations and lighting. We had a blast and the photographs turned out amazing!

A couple weeks ago we had the chance to work with Fiona Garden of nobasura on this 'Magenta Galaxy' shoot for Color Magazine. We helped with lighting and posing and broke out our super special hidden glowstick talents. :)

One of the perks of being a Vancouver based fashion photographer is having the opportunity to work with and shoot for awesome local brands like Arson . Merging Static's photographic ingenuity with creative director John Chow's stylistic vision was an important goal for the Spring 2008 catalogue photoshoot, and we knew that our awesome models, Jesse Harris and Jules Moore, could pull off the retro-70's look perfectly.

Static Photography has recently begun collaborations with Seattle-based art director Alan Rowe , founder of AR Imageworks Photo Retouching Services Alan has reworked 25 or so of our images - airbrushing, color correcting, cropping, and various other high-end enhancements in preparation for his new site launch. We plan to partner with Alan for the post-production work on our fashion photography and portrait photography shoots.
Today he launched http://arimageworks.com and the site features some really amazing Flash animations of the retouching process - step by step from beginning to end. He is definitely a master of his craft and the site is well work a look and will help you understand what takes place behind the scenes when prepping images for commerical use.

Much thanks and love to John Chow of Arson for this awesome fashion photography testimonial he gave us for this website...
“This is the first time that I have had an opportunity to work with Kris and I can honestly say that I was blown away. Kris understood what we were looking for. Working in a variety of locations of varying light and context he took it to the next level. His photos definitely captured the edginess and mood of our line. What we got were well balanced emotionally charged photos that resonated not only the personalities of our models but a flare and cockiness that was overtly pretentious. Exactly what we were looking for.
