Vancouver's Chinatown is a vibrant neighborhood of food, culture and art!

Whether it is for the freshly baked goods or the stunning historical artifacts, Vancouver's Chinatown neighborhood has enough nostalgia to spread for its visitors and residents. Nestled in near the edge of the downtown core, this particular Chinatown is blessed with some stunning architecture as well as waterfront scenery. Static Photography photographer Kris Krug had the chance to wander around his local neighborhood with his camera in tow. He was even able to catch some rare Vancouver sunlight while wandering the streets.

Some events start with a momentum that keeps growing with every year. TEDx Vancouver is one of those events that has that energy. In its second year this TED inspired event creates the environment that fosters the discovery of amazing speakers, awesome discussion between audience members and idea sharing from the stage to the seat. This year's event was held at the Kay Meek Centre in West Vancouver and Static Photography's Kris Krüg was there to capture all the wonderful moments of this evolving event.

With the return of the fall cold weather and the brightly changing colors of the leaves, there is also the annual return of the PopTech conference in Camden, Maine. This three day event connects some of the brightest and most innovative social change individuals from around the world for realtime sharing of ideas, problems and active solutions.

What happens in Las Vegas, stays in Las Vegas. When it comes to the geeks though - what happens in Vegas stays on the internet, especially when the geeks are gathering for the Blogworld 2010 Conference. A plethora of bloggers, internet whiz kids, geeks and tech-heads, Blogworld is a three day event of everything that is connected to blogging. From podcasting and making money from your blog to mommy and military bloggers, there was something for every blogger. Static Photography photographer Kris Krüg had the opportunity to give a keynote about new media photography for the ever expanding world of the internet.

Weddings can be a whirlwind of excitement for any new couple. When it comes to the planning of the special event, many details come into play from out of town family, outfits, location, food, vows and especially wedding photography. Having photos that capture the ceremony and events surrounding it can be very memorable for everyone involved in the wedding. Static Photography had the chance to capture four special ceremonies this past summer and early fall.

The world of photography is changing at a quickening pace that often can make photographers run for the hills. The rules and regulations from the past just aren't working with the new systems of today. From the onslaught of the internet, to digital cameras to even very powerful camera photos, this new creative landscape is not in the textbooks nor is it in the old school knowledge of photography. Luckily there is a new kid in town called the New School of Photography and Static Photography's very own Kris Krüg is leading the revolution.
Vancouver's 3rd Annual Timeraiser Show Auctions Off Fine Art For Volunteer Hours
It is always great to get a chance to be a part of revolutionary art shows that combine the creative community with the aspect of social change. The Timeraiser art show is just this type of event. Set for the evening of September 23rd this highly curated art show will auction off art from international artists not for money but for volunteer hours at selected charities. This will be the third year that Vancouver has hosted Timeraiser in its city and the second time that Static Photography photographer Kris Krüg has had the opportunity of being a selected artist for the show.

Static Photography has been very busy these past summer months. Every day is a constant hustle at our studio in Vancouver, BC but we get shoot some really awesome gigs. Photographer Kris Krüg has the ability to transform his photography and capture vital elements within vastly different experiences, from photojournalism to weddings, from flowers to live concerts. The World People's Conference on Climate Change ends with Declaration for the Rights of Mother Earth in Cochabamba, Bolivia
The World People's Conference on Climate Change and the Rights of Mother Earth wrapped up its four days of non-stop working activism a little over a week ago. Located in the small Bolivian town of Tiquipaya, right on the outskirts of Cochabamba, the WPCCC was a collective effort to gather the voices of activists, indigenous people and the global community at large into a collective document. This document titled Submission from the Plurinational State of Bolivia to UNFCCC would include the People's Declaration Agreement on Climate Change and the Declaration of the Rights of Mother Earth. Static Photography had the chance to head down to South America to photograph this event which sparked a strengthened voice in the people's movement around climate change.

With the world moving at an ever-quickening pace, it is very important to document the change process as it is happening. Static Photography has had the opportunity to be at some of these world-changing events such as the United Nations Climate Change Conference that took place in Copenhagen, Denmark in December of 2009.
Another such event is taking place in Bolivia this week called the World People's Conference on Climate Change and the Rights of Mother Earth. This conference is more directed towards a people's movement for negotiating climate justice legislation on a global level.

PopTech 2009 American Re-Imagined - Day 2 Photographic Recap
It has been an amazing ride for Static Photography out here in Camden, ME for the 2009 PopTech Conference . Day Two was fillled with amazing speakers, amazing musicians and complete with a full fledged ice cream social to end the eventful day. The sessions on Day Two focused around Re:imagining America and speakers were categorized into four themed sections. Those sections were: Mindshifts, Teaching Change, Energy/Form/Motion and Challenging Conversation. Kris Krug has been very busy shooting all these innovative speakers but it's worth it!

Come this November Kris will have the awesome opportunity to lead a PhotoCamp at the first annual [Re]Think Hawaii conference .
Rock n' Roll Photography Show at the Fifth Gallery in Austin, TX
As an artist it is always exciting when you are given the opportunity to showcase you are in a public format. Kris Krug from Static Photography was given this opportunity last week when he was asked to be part of a live concert photography art show titled Front Row at the Fifth Gallery in Austin, TX. The beautiful thing about Austin is that every year Kris attends the SXSW festival that happens there every spring. The tail end of the festival is filled with four days of nonstop live performances in venues all over the city of Austin. A large chunk of Kris' live concert photography is shot at the SXSW music festival every year.
Returning to Camden, Maine to Photograph the World-Changers of Pop!Tech 2009: America Reimagined
For the last two years Kris Krug has had the opportunity to be the official photographer of Pop!Tech , a 4 day fall conference that happens in Camden, ME. Over the past two years he has shot dozens of speakers while they were presenting on a wide range of topics, including inner-city violence , the fate of the oceans , musical possibility , linguistic theory and emotional robot technology . From musicians to leaders to the change makers of the present world, Pop!Tech has hosted them and Kris has photographed them.

Headin' Back to China to Photograph a Book About Shanghai
Static Photography is heading to Shanghai , China next week to make photographs for a book we're working on with Christine Lu . The book will be a collage of the vibrant and alternative side of Shanghai's emerging new culture and will feature photography by Kris Krüg alongside the words of Christine and others. Published under Creative Commons license, the book titled ChinaMeme Vol. 1: Shanghai will be available online later year and the large hardcover print edition will be on hand in time for the World Expo Fair in Shanghai next year.
