This summer the Static team met up with local Vancouver fashion
designer kdon, and shot the new pieces from the mini-collection, Dorthy
Goes to the Moulin Rouge . In addition to being an amazing fashion
designer kdon (Kim Cathers) is also a wardrobe stylist here at Static
Photography. After the shoot we sat down with Kim and got a little
insight into the inspiration behind this collection.

A couple weeks ago we had the chance to work with Fiona Garden of nobasura on this 'Magenta Galaxy' shoot for Color Magazine. We helped with lighting and posing and broke out our super special hidden glowstick talents. :)

Someone recently left a copy of Androgyny Magazine behind at our studio and we've found it totally inspiring. So inspiring in fact that we quickly pulled together a creative fashion shoot based on the lovely aesthetic of the magazine. Vancouver models Patron and Malloreigh were great... they both had the perfect look for a shoot like this and was a pleasure to work with. I recently assisted on a photoshoot with awesome Vancouver fashion photographer Trevor Brady. Trevor is an amazing guy with fingers in lots of different creative pies: from the web, to retail, to photography.

Kdon over at Discollection is an amazing designer and stylist. I've been using her for lots of Static Photography shoots lately and was even more impressed than usual in the job she did styling the Ashley-Rae photoshoot with awesome designer vintage clothes from her store.

I recently stumbled on this great list of photoshoot tips for models (or anyone who is having their portraits taken). Thanks to Vancouver editorial and people photographer Dawn Stenzel for the list! :)

I've worked with Jessie Harris once before on the Made In Vancouver photoshoot with Margaret Torgerson and he was great.

Recently I had the chance to do a photoshoot with models Lenore Owens and Mitchell Bowman in Gastown that we ended up jokingly calling "Screamo".

Joseph Briante and Theresa James just started a boutique legal valet service in Vancouver called Hardcore Superstar and wanted to make a big splash.

My friend Andre Charland's (AKA Captain Ajax) company recently underwent a branding change.

Raincity Studios is an awesome web design and development firm here in Vancouver that I've had the pleasure of working with over the past couple years. They're a team of Drupal and Ruby On Rails 'rockstars' as they like to say and wanted street-style edgy photos that represented they're attitudes and projects.

I recently had the chance to shoot photos of the DeSmogBlog team at their headquarters here in Vancouver. They wanted black and white, journalistic style photos that said "We're serious about climate change!" Check out the photos from the shoot here and some nice words from the client in our portrait photography references section of the site.

I've been meaning to post to this site for a while a few shoots I've worked on in the past couple months including this one with kdon of Discollection and the Torgerson sistas - Margie and Petrina.
